Good Pub Guide County Dining Pub of the Year 2019

Bawburgh Kings Head wins ‘Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year 2019’

The Kings Head in Bawburgh has just been awarded ‘Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year 2019’ in The Good Pub Guide 2019. Selected by the editors only the very best pubs receive awards and The Kings Head is absolutely delighted to have been given this accolade.

The Good Pub Guide is Britain’s bestselling travel guide, and is the only truly independent guide of its kind. Every year the editors select the very best pubs to receive awards in a range of categories and The Kings Head Bawburgh have received the title of ‘Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year 2019’. After years of hard work and commitment the team at The Kings Head are ecstatic to be recognised on this level. Owner Anton Wimmer is delighted “I am immensely proud of the team at The Kings Head for their hard work, commitment and the passion they have for making our customers experience a memorable one”.

The Kings Head is one of the original pioneers of gastropub dining in Norfolk and centres it’s menu and philosophy firmly on local markets, produce and seasonal specialities. Joint Head Chef Jake Armes is delighted to achieve this recognition, “receiving this award just shows that the proof is in the pudding, hard work and dedication from the team, acknowledging that there is always something new to learn and new horizons to discover, and to remember as a team that the food is the ingredient that binds us together. We work well together, and value our customers and their feedback, we will continue to offer a friendly professional experience, serving top quality fresh local produce cooked to order and perfection”.

From the close relationship held between the Kings Head and it’s VIPs (very important producers), the daily changing specials have proven popular with customers. As a celebration of this, The Kings Head are delighted to be offering a ‘chosen by you’ taking place from Saturday 3rd November to Saturday 10th November. Throughout September and October customers will be able to vote for their favourites from a selection of highly regarded dishes that have been served during 2018. Through facebook and in voting polls at The Kings Head itself, votes will be cast and the most popular dishes will form the menu for the whole of the ‘chosen by you’ week (with some Kings Head Classics remaining too). On top of this, £1 from each diner who visits us that week will be donated to our chosen charity of Keeping Abreast.

Joint Head Chef Max Emmerson is excited about the ‘chosen by you’ week “We are looking forward to seeing how the voting goes and which of our dishes proves the most popular, we have people repeatedly asking to see their favourite special again, and now is the opportunity. I think this award is an amazing achievement and shows that hard work pays off. Everyone in the kitchen, all the way from kitchen porters to the head chefs, deserve the credit for this and hopefully we’ll continue to go from strength to strength to improve on it by continuing all the hard work put in by the team”.

The Kings Head Bawburgh would like to thank everyone who has dined and stayed with us in the past, and looks forward to seeing many old and new faces for our ‘chosen by you’ week in November to celebrate this accolade, whilst raising money for a great cause! The Good Pub Guide Winners
